Swimmers

To enter into our Beginner lessons children must be 4 years and older, already have basic water confidence and be ready to start learning in a structured group lesson. As swimmers learn and grow confident in their swimming skills they will progress through our beginner levels and our coaches will be constantly assessing their progress.

As we have a variety of levels in our Beginner lessons each child will need to come along to a free assessment so we can ensure they start in a group best suited to their ability. Fill in our form below to request a free assessment and learn more about enrolling your swimmer in beginner lessons.

If your child is below 4 years of age then we recommend you visit Splash Baby to look at the classes they offer.

We also offer Beginner classes in our 4 day intensive holiday programme that runs during the primary school holidays. This is a great option if you are new to our swim school and will help swimmers bridge into our group lessons with ease, you can find more information here.

Lessons

Our Beginner lessons are 30mins and with a maximum of only 4 swimmers in a class our small class sizes are a great learning environment and the perfect start to your child’s swimming journey. Lessons take place in our heated learners pool and our coaches are in the water for the full lesson.

Lessons are focused on improving swimmer’s water confidence, teaching correct kicking technique, arm strokes and the basics of freestyle breathing. As swimmers grow in confidence and skill they will slowly be introduced into our 25m pool and be ready to move into our Intermediate lessons.

Lessons run in line with primary school terms and are available after school on weekday afternoons and on Saturday mornings, we can provide specific class times after we run an assessment and grade your child.
